Project: Changing Behaviour

Objective

To raise awareness and understanding of the NHS 'Patient Safety First' campaign among sector specific and regional media, to encourage sign-up from trusts.

What we did

We interviewed a range of medical staff, from nurses to Chief Executives, anaesthetists to surgeons, to draft articles and build a case study bank. These were published in the leading trade press, along with expert comments from the campaign spokespeople. We produced a PR guide to help local NHS trust communications teams to deliver on-message coverage in their area beyond the life of the campaign.

Results

Coverage reach was in excess of 40 million with 25% of this in the UK's top five medical publications. Performance against the primary KPI for coverage was a massive 1,733%. PR played an active role in gaining sign-up from 96% of acute trusts and 62% of non-acute trusts from all over the country.
